Survive the Coronavirus as a Wedding Photographer – 11 Tips

11 Tips on How to Survive the Coronavirus as a Wedding Photographer or Vendor

You guys! This is crazy! We are all experiencing something in the wedding industry that is unheard of in our time. This is new territory.  Owning a small business and managing a household of kiddos, for some of us, is a daunting task as it is…but doing it while being self-quarantined and in the midst of a global pandemic is unthinkable!

As wedding industry vendors (photographers, videographers, planners etc)…we have all joined together to help one another, cover events for people in other states, and really be a leaning ear here on social media (as we can’t really go anywhere these days, can we?)!

Here is a list of resources to help you professionally and personally, and if you know of any other resources, please list them below and share this with your fellow creatives!

Blessings and prayers for all of our your thriving businesses!

Tips for Wedding Photographers and Creatives: How to Handle The Coronavirus and Wedding Cancellations and Postponements

  1. If your couple is postponing, be sure to have them select a future summer/fall date ASAP, as your dates will be more and more limited. Have them send you a handful of dates that are available from the venue, and you select the dates that you are available from that list.  The couple can then make a final decision.

  1. Have your couples sign a NEW WEDDING CONTRACT! This is imperative! Because the contract is changing, it makes your current wedding contract (and all the stipulations) null and void. Make sure you both sign the new agreement and send and email confirmation making sure it is all documented.

  1. Helpful Financial Support:
  • 2 Free months of Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, In Design etc… (all Adobe products)
    • Login to the Adobe Creative Cloud website
    • Click your Manage Subscription button
    • Click Cancel your Plan
    • Fill out the appropriate answers
    • The last page (offers) will be a free 60 day offer
    • Click ACCEPT OFFER
    • Billing will continue like normal after your free 60 days, your account will NOT be canceled.
  •  Stimulus Package for Small Businesses

I have heard in a couple of my business groups that The SBA is preparing a Stimulus package for Small Businesses and Loan options as well. See the official SBA link to see what type of aid is available to you and your small business.

  • Waive Your Car Payments! Call your Auto Loan and ask for financial hardship postponing.

Wells Fargo Dealer Services – is postponing payments for those in a financial hardship. They will postpone for 1-3 months. Please call their phone number and explain your situation. They are happy to help.  If you are not with Wells Fargo Dealer Services, feel free to call your Auto Loan holder and see what options they have.

  • Update your contracts/email your clients a waiver

HoneyBook has put out free verbiage to all of their clients. If you use HoneyBook, be sure to checkout the clauses and email templates they have released in order for you to update your clients and keep everyone at ease during this economic crisis.
